Perspectives - Concept

Morar Creative’s concept for the Perspectives public art opportunity at Billy Bishop Airport invites viewers into a whimsical, illustrated journey through the city, led by a curious young girl and her unlikely companion—a raccoon. As they explore Toronto’s streets, skylines, and hidden corners, their story unfolds across the tunnel walls, revealing a vibrant and layered portrait of the city.

Rooted in Morar Creative’s signature style - architectural forms, urban florals, and bold, joyful colour—the artwork balances visual clarity from a distance with intricate storytelling up close. Hidden throughout are playful, detailed elements designed to reward repeat viewing and spark imagination, particularly among children and families.

The tunnel becomes more than a passage - it’s a shared visual narrative. Travelers walking its length are invited to follow the duo’s journey, noticing familiar landmarks through fresh eyes and discovering small surprises along the way. The work reflects Toronto’s dynamic energy while emphasizing themes of curiosity, companionship, and wonder.

Through a balance of structure and spontaneity, this concept aims to create an experience that is uplifting, engaging, and deeply connected to the spirit of the city.
